Smoke from the Canadian fires reaches the NYC area and engulfs everything into an orange fog

Now that August is already here, I look at the summer that soon will be only a memory and wonder about the images that will best capture it. Perhaps some of the most symbolic snapshots that capture the essence of this summer also portrait Mother Nature, the environment, and our human relationship with nature. That brings to mind the Canadian wildfires and the smoke that then drifted down and engulfed most of the North American continent.

In the New York City area, it engulfed almost everything in a thick, orange fog or smoke. It felt like breathing in a fine spray of minuscule needles, in and out, in and out, with each breath.

Here’s a snapshot of that orange smoke as it reached the area:

I wish you all a safe and restful summer and, as always, thanks for stopping by,

  1. Those Canadian wildfires must be devastating (as all bush & wildfires are to both the environment and people living in and around them).

Loved your nature images in Arts & Food Magazine, especially the light shining on the lava fields. Very effective in the use of light and shade. Stunning!

      1. You’re welcome, Alina. I can never help commenting when I see images that make excellent use of the light/shade and are visually so well composed.

To me, it doesn’t matter if you’re a professional highly experienced photographer like yourself or an amateur, when I see photography I like, comments are mandatory.

It’s easy to press the LIKE button, but well worth the effort to express one’s enjoyment (of the photographer’s work) in words.

To be honest, professional photographer’s blogs inspire me to make more effort (when health problems and chronic pain allows of course 🙂 ) and often inspire me to try out new ways of looking at subjects.
