…and the Golden Hour
Election Day 2024 is finally here. Nobody knows what lies ahead. Does it mark a beginning or an end? And of what?
Thinking of endings and beginnings, sunsets and sunrises come to mind, and the way they wrap the globe in that glorious golden hour light.
This past weekend I came across an image from a few years ago, “What Lies Ahead.” It shows a deserted rail road leading into the dim, golden-hour light.
Through the lens of this Election Day, our road into the golden-hour light could lead us into the sunset, followed by darkness, or into the sunrise, followed by a bright and new day. It’s our choice.
Sometimes I wonder if some of us truly understand the options, the choices and their consequences.
“Democracy dies in darkness.”
The Washington Post
So, let’s hope that this metaphorical golden hour light in which we find ourselves today will not lead us into darkness, but into the bright daylight.
A daylight that won’t let women bleed to death while waiting for care at a hospital.
A daylight that won’t bar public health professionals from administering vaccines.
A daylight that will protect human rights, and democracy, itself.
Thank you all for stopping by,
