It’s June and that means it’s Pride Month. I’ve written about it and posted related images year after year.
The truth is that there are many, many ways of portraying Pride Month and capturing its symbolism in visual arts, words, and any other art form. I’ve been lucky enough to do just that and also to cover the LGBTQIA community throughout the years. And so, this Pride Month, I’d like to share some of my work inspired by the LGBTQIA community and a few related #bts stories.
Thank you in advance for still reading.
For starters, here are a few images from the summer of World Pride 2019, in NYC, from an event hosted by Visual AIDS, called What Is 21st Century Liberation:

Here’s an excerpt from my World Pride 2019 cover story interview with artist and activist Avram Finkelstein and which shares more details about the 21st Century Liberation broadsheet:
“For the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, #Stonewall50, Finkelstein is working on yet another broadsheet, a 21st Century Liberation public project for Visual AIDS. Printed copies of the broadsheet will be handed out along the Pride March by Visual AIDS.
Visual AIDS invited artist, activist and author Avram Finkelstein and Rodrigo Moreiro to design a broadsheet in conjunction with Stonewall 50. Visual AIDS will distribute copies of the broadsheet [25,000 of them] during Pride March and throughout Pride Month. The kick-off party occurred on June 6, 2019, at New York Live Arts.”
Read the interview here.
Also, I had the chance to walk in that Pride March with Visual AIDS and distribute copies of the broadsheet. (See pictures posted above)

Again, there is not one way of capturing images of Pride. Here are more images.
And more images will follow throughout this month.
Happy Pride!
Happy Summer!
Happy Photographing!
And, as always, thanks for stopping by.
