I haven’t bought a new camera in years, and so, this holiday season I decided to get myself a Nikon Z30. It’s small, lightweight, and compact. It has a cropped sensor (which is ok), does not have a viewfinder (unfortunately), but comes with two lenses (16mm – 50mm and 50mm – 250mm) at a decent price. Also, it’s a good choice for vlogging and selfies, and even self portraits. So, I decided that it would make a good, practical camera for everyday use and/or travel.

I haven’t put it to a serious test so far–that’s to come, after the holidays–but I did take it for a brief test shoot on the waterfront a few nights ago. One note for now: I’ve noticed that the lack of viewfinder doesn’t help minimize camera shake. Hence, I guess I’ll have to rethink the way I handhold this particular camera or use the small tripod that came with it. That’s something to experiment with in an upcoming photo shoot.

But today I just want to share some of the images I’ve captured so far.

Here’s to the holiday lights on the Jersey City waterfront:

More images to follow, soon.

Thank you all for stopping by, and wish you all warm, wonderful, and Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year, too!
