This past weekend was a holiday weekend–Memorial Day weekend–here, in the U.S.. It was a rainy, cold weekend, too. And yet, on Friday afternoon, cloudy as it was, I finally made it into the city for the first time in over a year and since the beginning of COVID.
I love NYC and always will. Last year, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, it hurt to see it going through so much pain, and suffering, and loss.

And yet, this past weekend it felt as if life in New York City was coming back, ever so slowly…. To me, the city that never sleeps appeared much more…relaxed. People weren’t rushing to make it from A to B, rather, many were taking in the sights, enjoying, perhaps, the beginning of a long holiday weekend and the last moments before the weekend-long rain.

Memorial Day is a somber holiday, a day when we remember those who’ve given their all for the country.
Unofficially, Memorial Day weekend is supposed to mark the beginning of summer. Yet, we’re still waiting.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer and, as always, thank you for stopping by,
