Gift Ideas for the Holidays

Holiday Card 2014

It’s the holiday season. Again. I spent this past weekend preparing images for clients–wall photo art, calendars, metal prints, and the like. And it got me thinking…the holiday season is, indeed, upon us.

I don’t usually hit the malls and shopping centers unless I absolutely have to or if there’s something to do with photo/lighting gear, books, or shoes. I prefer to do my shopping online, from home, or offer photo gifts and/or photo sessions as gifts. Still, the question that often haunts the holiday season is: But what makes the best gifts? And what makes the best gifts this year in particular?

Books always make great gifts. And since I know a few awesome authors, I’m in luck. For some wonderful reads, check out books by authors like T. J. Banks, Hans M. Hirschi, Kergan Edwards-Stout, Arthur Wooten, Greg Allen, and David G. Hallman. Or check out Journeys Through Darkness: A Biography of Kurt Weston, an award-winning, legally blind photographer.

Subscription to favorite magazines. My favorite publications. For those who’d rather read on their mobile devices and are interested in photography, Moment Precise is a fantastic online publication geared to photographers and art history lovers in particular.

For those in need of original artwork (and I emphasize ‘original’ artwork), check out artists like Kurt Weston, for example. The link to my own photo art storefront is posted here.

Other gift ideas include:

  • getting a personal trainer;
  • taking a class you’ve always wanted to take (like a photography class, for example);
  • or learning how to play an instrument or how to speak a foreign language.

Another gift idea for the holidays and not only is having your pictures taken by a pro. If you’re in the NYC area, check out my work and feel free to contact me.

Other ideas include: helping someone; adopting a pet; checking out that show, concert, or movie you’ve always wanted to see; have loved ones over to share and spread that holiday spirit.

I wish you all happy and warm and safe holidays!

Happy Holidays and a Happy 2017, too!
