“Urban Animals Television Series Celebrated National Launch with Pet and Fashion Filled Gala,” announced the press release. The event brought together fashion and fitness celebrities, and animal lovers. Among those attending the D Pet Hotel event–Tony Sawicki, Urban Animals show producer and host, and fitness model Clint Kukla and his Alaskan Malamute, Balto.

Co-producer and co-creator of the show, Clover Welsh, invited me to cover the Urban Animals event at the D Pet Hotel in New York City. He says, “People were brought together by a mutual love for animals, which definitely make for good conversation, and everyone intermingled and had a truly memorable, magical night. I’ve never seen a party like this in New York City, and I’ve been around for a while.”
For those who might not be aware of it yet, “Urban Animals is a half-hour weekly TV program about urban dwellers, the many varieties of creatures that impact our lives, and the unique relationships that exist between people and animals in the kinetic, urban jungle. From the peregrine falcons that reside on the ledges of New York City skyscrapers, to the creatures that inhabit our zoos, museums, and pet shops, to the animals featured in our favorite plays, movies, and documentaries, to the unique and unexpected pets kept by our friends and neighbors, URBAN ANIMALS is a combination news/magazine, human-interest series, and topical animal show. Urban Animals is a smart, hip, and altogether unique concept in television programming that combines the universal appeal of pets and animals with the magnetic draw of an edgy, fast-paced metropolitan vibe.” While until recently, the Urban Animals PBS show was broadcasted only in the New York City metro area, now it is available nationwide.

Being an animal lover, and in particular a dog person, of course, I was excited to cover the event. So, here I was, on a rainy evening, together with a fellow photographer, capturing the exotic birds and dogs and other animals at D Pet Hotel. Many thanks to the amazing Clover Welsh for the opportunity. Here he is, in a black hat, in a few group pictures.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
