Reflecting on the Meaning of Spring
Spring is here. This year, though, the feelings that we usually associate with the arrival of spring–new hope, new beginnings, luck–don’t seem to fill the air. Loss does. A kind of loss that touches every single aspect of many people’s lives. Yet, it’s also a loss that could help us reflect, take a good and honest look within ourselves, as well as at the state of the world surrounding us, and try to make meaning of how and why we got here. Because only once we understand that, we can start thinking about what to do next. Is there even a way out of this “here”?
Honest answers might reveal our weaknesses, as well as false hopes. Honest answers might, indeed, help us reflect, and hopefully then take good, common sense, actions.
Speaking of reflecting on one’s self, as well as on the arrival of spring and, with that, (still) possible new beginnings, here’s a #tbt image in green hues.
Angel. Reflections. captures the Angel of the Waters (the Bethesda Angel) reflection in its pond. I believe it also speaks of much more:
- the history of the statue and its creator
- the story of the Bethesda Angel
- its symbolism as captured in movies such as HBO’s Angels in America
Read more about it here.
As always, thanks for stopping by,
