So, there was a total solar eclipse here, in the U.S., crossing the country on an elongated, curved diagonal line. Here, in the NYC area, we could observe only a partial (about 80%), solar eclipse, on a quite cloudy day.
I could capture a few images, between 3pm and 4pm local time, handheld, with my iPhone15 Pro Max and Nikon Z30.
The 2024 solar eclipse day started with a beautiful NYC sunrise:

But as the day progressed, it got cloudy and then mostly cloudy towards the afternoon. Here’s a snapshot captured #shotoniphone15promax during the eclipse, without filter:

Here are a few shots of the partial solar eclipse, mostly zoomed in, captured, handheld, with my Nikon Z30 and a solar filter:

And here are a couple of snapshots of the partial solar eclipse captured, handheld, zoomed in, with my iPhone15 Pro Max, with the solar eclipse glasses in front of the iPhone camera:

The next solar eclipse visible here, in North America, will take place twenty years from now, in 2044, apparently.
As always, these unique events make for unique experiences and, in turn, photography experimentation (with lots of practice, that is).
Hope you enjoy the images and, as always, thanks for stopping by!
Happy Photographing!
