April is National Poetry Month
April is here and that means, spring is almost in the air in some parts of the country. In the U.S., April is also National Poetry Month.
I used to write poetry, way back when, but not anymore. That said, I would like to share a poem inspired by the work of award-winning photographer Kurt Weston. The poem is called “Balance” and I included it in my book about his life, work, and activism–Journeys Through Darkness: A Biography.

Balance (for Kurt) by Alina Oswald Angels and Demons, Saints and Sinners, Modern crucifixes, Stigmatizing Life and what follows it, Our Journey through Darkness and Light And the shades of gray in between, Matter and Antimatter Make us whole and leave us empty Creatures of a dual nature: Surrenders and Survivors, Warriors Seeking a balance In a world disturbed by shadows.
I’ll keep this post short, but I’d like to ask:

Do you write poetry? Feel free to share in a comment (below).
Happy Poetry Month!
And, as always, thanks for stopping by!
