Today is New Year’s Eve. Tonight at midnight we get to say goodbye to a tumultuous 2024 and step into a brand new year. For some of us, it feels as if we’re on an edge, a step away from an inevitable destiny decided by others for us.

The question is:
How are we going to keep our balance and ourselves off that (metaphorical) edge?
As it often happens, the answer, also metaphorical, can be found in creative work.
In his book, Hope – A Story of Triumph, bestselling author and AIDS activist Joel Rothschild writes about “The Duality of Our Existence,” about “the house of darkness” and “of light,” and “the very fine line” that separates the two, called “hope.”
“There’s a very fine line between disaster and triumph, called hope.”
Hopefully we’ll always be able to find that “very fine line […] called hope,” and keep our selves and our spirits alive in the year and years to come.
I wish you all a healthy, hopeful, and Happy New Year.
As always, thanks for stopping by,
