There’s a first time for everything, I guess. This past week, when getting my photo gear ready for photographing a local Pride event, my camera, which was in its unzipped bag, on a chair, fell and hit the hardwood floor. I quickly took a glance at it and didn’t notice any particular damage, and then I went ahead and covered the event.
While I was photographing, I noticed that my lens filter was smashed. I removed the filter and took a closer look at the lens. It appeared to be okay. I continued photographing, sans filter. Once back home, I noticed that some of the broken filter glass had started to fall off and into the camera bag.
Reminder:
A uv filter over the lens does save your lens. And also, so does a lens hood placed the correct way around the lens.
Another note: I haven’t noticed any difference between the picture captured through the broken filter and those captured without a filter. Not sure if there should be any difference.
Here are a few examples of images from the Pride event of this past weekend, images featuring performer and host of the event, The Antonio Amor:

I wish you all happy and safe photographing!
As always, thanks for stopping by,
